Plantronics releases Bluetooth headset for VoIP applications

Two of the hottest trends in the industry these days are Bluetooth wireless technology and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). While Plantronics may not be the first name you think of when it comes to your next purchase, they should certainly be near the top of the list -- because their Bluetooth headsets have always received respectable reviews. The latest innovation from the electronics maker is the Voyager 510-USB, the first Bluetooth headset system designed specifically for VoIP applications.

They're selling this product as a means to provide "instant wireless connectivity to PC-based softphones" including support for popular protocols like those offered by Cisco and Skype, as well as AOL, MSN, and Yahoo! You simply insert a Bluetooth USB adapter into your device of choice and let the plug-and-play action do its thing. Best of all, you can use this single headset for both your VoIP and cellular needs, switching with a touch of a button.

With up to six hours of talk time and up to 100 hours of standby, the Plantronics Voyager 510-USB will start shipping next month for just a touch under $200.
