New OS and features included in the Nokia 770

Nokia and Google have been working together on a new 770 Internet Tablet. According to infoSync World, Nokia will offer its Internet Tablet OS 2006 as a free download for existing owners. The upgrade adds SIP-based VoIP support (Google Talk, for example), a larger soft keyboard, a refreshed look including a new desktop, and a number of applets that help you customize the 770. .

n addition, Nokia said that it has improved the memory performance.

This is great news for existing and future 770 users. There's already a developer community with a ton of third-party software, so it's great to know that Nokia is refreshing the baseline. I'll have to see if my Nokia contacts can get me a version to play around with.

My biggest complaint about using the 770 for Web-based email is the soft keyboard. With a larger soft keyboard we'll see if the experience is any better.

If you'd like to be notified when the new OS is avaiable, put your e-mail address in the box on the bottom right of Nokia's 770 page.
