Microsoft planning on out doing Google and Yahoo R&D budgets

According to this article it looks like Microsoft Corp will not stay behind the software game and they certainly have not, they are planning on spending over $ 1 billion on R&D just in its MSN unit, as from fiscal year starting in July, as said by CEO Steve Ballmer to an audience. Part of this decision is in light of the recent software struggle that has been taking place between Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.
