comScore: 694 Million people use the Internet Nationwide

comScore unveiled the launch of comScore World Metrix, the first true estimate of global online audience size and behavior based on activity from the world’s largest online behavioral research panel. comScore says that it arrived at that number by applying a consistent methodology across all countries. The number of people online represents 14% of the world's population for the particular age group covered in the study.

United States took the #1 spot with 152,046,000 unique visitors to the Internet. #2 was China with 74,727,000 visitors, followed by Japan with 52,100,000 visitors.

The company differentiated country on the average monthly hours online, and United States wasn’t even in the top 15 countries. The top country with the average number of hours online was Israel with 57.5. Finland was second with 49.3 hours, followed by South Korea with 47.2 hours. The worldwide average for the number of hours online per month was 31.3 hours.
