Change a colored picture to a black single layered stencil

Yeah I know what you are thinking and saying to yourself. Why would I want to convert my colored photos to a single layered stencil? Well if you want to learn something using Photoshop, this would be a start; moreover the process is so easy even a child could do it in first try.

Stencil Revolution has a tutorial on "Converting a colour photo to a single layered stencil with Photoshop".

  1. Simply open the colour photo or image you will be using in photoshop (That’s easy right).
  2. Now, once you have your photo opened we need to convert it into a greyscale image by using the 'desaturate' feature.
  3. Once you have your image desaturated we need to adjust its 'brightness and contrast' to make the job a little easier and to increase the contrast between the black and white areas of the image.

Note: All these steps have pictures associated with them to make learning fun and more productive.
