Samsung unveils US's slimmest bar phone

Samsung took the opportunity to show off its latest wares at the CTIA Wireless 2006 trade show. One of those wares was the slimmest bar phone for the U.S. market, with a profile of only 9.8 mm.

The Samsung t509 will feature high-speed EDGE connectivity in addition to supporting Bluetooth. The phone will also come with a 262K-color screen and an integrated camera. It is expected to launch in the spring.

The t509 will give Samsung three distinctive slim phone designs it can offer to its customers, including a clamshell, slider, and bar. In addition to the t509, Samsung also announced the d807, a slider phone that includes many of the same features as the t509, with the addition of an external memory slot supporting microSD memory. The d807 will be launched in the U.S. in the summer.

Samsung knows that when it comes to mobile phones, "thin is in." By offering three different slim style designs the company allows its customers to stay within the Samsung product line to find the best phone for their situation. The d807 or the t509 may just be one of those phones.
