Steve Ballmer perceive smartphones to sell for $100

Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer predicts the future as he expects smartphones run on Windows Mobile software technology to sell for $100 within the next one or two years.

"We will get smartphones at consumer style prices," Ballmer said in an interview on Tuesday at the 3GSM wireless trade show.

"I think it will take a year or two before we get to $100 type offerings (of Windows Mobile devices). I may be wrong, but not by much," he told Reuters.

The time frame of one to two years does look realistic as set by Steve Ballmer. As of right now smart phones cost between $150 - $250, and it wont be long before we could see smart phones selling for a mere $100.
